The very generous ART WANK invited artists that had guested on their podcast, to submit a small work for exhibition to be shown at Sydney Road Gallery in February. A wonderfully diverse group exhibition curated by Sarah Montgomery. My small 33 x 33cm work had a been hanging alongside 27 painters, drawers, ceramicists and sculptors. You can hear all the episodes by Fiona Verity and Julie Nicholson (hilarious, informative, revealing) who are also artists in their own right - HERE

“Ivory Floaters” (Pigment, Oil + Wax on Birch. Framed in Oak) - SOLD

Lovely to have had a bit of time to leave a piece of work to “cure” so to speak. Many learnings and layers with this work, textural exploration and trying to hone a more peaceful palette. Layers of pigment mixed with oils and wax, layed down, scraped back, smoothed over or removed all together ….. and probably repeated 10 more steps down the track …….

Curatorial + Co finished up 2020 with a summer group show of all current artists - “Darlings” Sophie Vander curated and transformed the gallery into a warm living room, styled with vintage furniture and filled with beautiful small works by all stable and invited artists.

“Making Playlists for My Sister #15 (Pigment, Oil + Wax on Birch. Framed in Oak) - SOLD

The last work made in the Making Playlists series.

Finalist.

The Little Things Art Prize founded by artist Marnie Ross held annually at Saint Cloche (Paddington, Sydney) asked artists to submit creative expressions of the little things that make them happy or feel grateful, emphasising the benefits of how focusing our attention can contribute to our health and happiness. As well as inspiring community creative engagement, the resulting finalists exhibition is a celebration of the artwork displayed and a shared positive experience, making it possible even in the times of Covid.

Judged by Jude Rae, Celia Gullet, Simone Fraser and Janet Deboos.

“Studio Garden” (Pigment, Oil + Wax on Birch. Framed in Oak) - SOLD

I am fortunate to have a studio that is close to home and nestled in a private garden, where I can watch the light dance, hear the rain and birdsong and sit outside for meals. Aside from the studio itself, for my practice, it is something I am most grateful for. It is a nurturing place.

“Making Playlists for My Sister #1, #2, #3, #4, #5 and #6 ((Pigment, Oil + Wax on Birch. Framed in Oak) - ALL SOLD

Sydney Road Gallery stable and invited artists group show of works, limiting the artists to paint in a smaller format than their usual practice. It was the first time I began to explore a whole new medium, method and time frame. The works were very well received and so began the journey into oil painting, shapes and texture.
